Fireaxe is good for sniping
TF2 stats aren't as detailed or as awesomely formatted as Day of Defeat: Source's stats but they're still cool. For example, on 2fort, blue wins about 50% of the time, it's a stalemate about 15% of the time, and red wins about 35% of the time. On the other symmetrical map, well, red wins less that 30% of the time compared to blue's ~55% win chance. The moral of the story: red sucks. Unless the map is dustbowl, where red wins 70% of the time. Lame.

also I'm amazed snipers get the most points. I think of them as almost entirely useless. I never play one and I very rarely get killed by one so I don't know where all their points are coming from. maybe from sniping really bad players on really bad pub servers.
scouts and engies are the most popular even though they get very few points or kills per hour.
it's really sad that the average life for most classes is about 40 seconds. that's *average*. that means half the time, your average player dies less than 40 seconds after spawning. so in other words, they spend about 30% of their time dead.
if by far most damage is done with the rocket launcher, why doesn't the soldier have the most kills? maybe it takes deployables into account.
I like that fists are the third most powerful weapon per hit =p
makes sense that bonesaw gets the most crits. medics build up a lot of 'momentum' with all their healing assists, then when they see a vulnerable person and whip out their bonesaw, it has a good chance to crit.
the death maps are cool. you can see where everyone dies to snipers as soon as they walk to the balcony in 2fort =p and that room of death that is the first cap point on dustbowl.

My guess would be it takes into account damage done over the targets hitpoints. If you look at it, it's the second highest crit rate of the ranged weapons, high damage per shot, and Soldier is a commonly played class, meaning a lot of people are getting one shotted by rockets, and the damage that took them well into negative hitpoints is being counted.
don't forget nonkilling damage. it's a long range, easily spammed explosive weapon that people love to fire into crowded rooms. also, self-inflicted damage during rocketjumps and prep is most likely also counted.
Hmm, you may be on to something. Also, what team does the server place you on when you hit random and both teams have an even amount of players? I haven't really thought about it, the logical thing would be the team with the least points, but I'm not sure. Also, a few wins may be from a single person joining the server just running around waiting for players, most probably in the blue team.
Pyro's are one of the best cappers in pubs b/c everyone just runs away from them <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin-fix.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":D" border="0" alt="biggrin-fix.gif" />
Actually, the logical thing would be to pick a team at random. >_>
But according to the page all 4 shotguns are critting about the same, 5 to 5.7% of the time or so.
I think the real reason is that the shotgun is the pyro's only long range weapon, so most of it's shots are at targets where not all the pellets hit, therefor less damage per hit.
Which isn't that unlikely considering that EVERY SINGLE TIME someone attempted to melee me the last week, once they actually hit it'd ALWAYS be a crit and kill me instantly.

That was my first thought also, however it doesn't work, why?
Avg dmg RANGE is shorter then other classes.
