Music is "jittering"

Hey guys,
I have this problem for a long time now with different Steam and NS Installation - as far as i remeber.
When I start the game, the music is not played as expected, it is somehow jittering, the music is playing, not playing, playing not playing, about 3 times a second. This occures only to music, not soundeffects and happens at start-screen, readyroom an in the game. I dont have this problem in hl oder cs, but there is no music at the start so I cant really test this.. I have no other sound problems with hl or steam or in any other games.
I have a AMD X2 System with WinXP 32Bit on a Nforce 4 Board with onboard sound..

I also had a similar issue with an addon soundcard, but it's not a consumer grade card.
