Realtek audio driver issue

I wanted to update my Asus P5W DH Realtek ALC882M onboard audio drivers because I heard it would solve my crash/reboot error I was getting in Eve and now I have no audio.

So I booted to safe mode, used the add/remove feature, ran driver cleaner(old version) and rebooted. Back in windows I ran the 1.83 HD Realtek drivers from their website and restarted. Back in windows I had zero sound. I checked volume levels, and they are all maxed. The realtek device and drivers are detected by windows so I dont think its a bad chipset.
I used my usb sound device that came with my headsets and it works fine.
My question is what did I do wrong? I do plan to do a reformat in the upcoming week once I get a new hard drive but want it fixed now. I tried the old drivers and I still have no audio so maybe files didn't get deleted. I do have the old free version of driver cleaner so maybe thats why it didn't work?
Why cant these companies make a working uninstall program. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/mad-fix.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="mad-fix.gif" />

So any help would be great.
