Im trying to get a friend back into NS, but he has a low spec vista computer, and other than cl_gammaramp 0 - I havn't a clue what else to do to make it more vista frindly.
Ive disabled aero, and NS still gives me a black screen :/
Im reinstalling as posting this - but any further help would be apreciated.
EDIT: Yeah, guess what. Reinstalled no difference. It still loads the background image then when it tries to load the menu options it goes white, then black, mouse cursor appears, and I KNOW that the stuffs there, because I close it by opening console and typing 'Exit'.
EDIT2: After playing with the laptops gfx card, its fixed - ty anyway

This is a myth propogated by people not using Vista64. Vista32, I hear does suffer performance problems. Don't get Vista32.
I use both XP and Vista64 and I can tell you Vista64 is quite a bit faster for using all of my ram (4gb) and 4 cores. E.g., hellgate london runs better. The kernel itself seems better capable of handling top-end machines, especially multithreaded games. It seems to have some better algorithm for splitting resources. Yes, Vista64 does use more ram, but I don't mind stuffing as many gigs in it as necessary.
