First enjoy a bit of SCUMM:

If you have a DS Lite then you'll want one of the newer (and smaller) ones so it's nice and flush with the unit itself. Apart from that, the last I checked, they're all much of a muchness. Make sure you get a Passkey (if they're still necessary).

I heartily recommend the <a href="http://www.dslinker.cn/" target="_blank">DSlinker</a>. Having played with other homebrew solutions, this one's pretty tight. It's got either one or two gigs of built-in memory that you can write to via the USB link module dealie that you plug into the GBA slot. It's got a bootup menu and everything.

r4 revolution for ds is the best i'd say - haven't found much that doesn't work on it these days. only problem is it only supports 2gb memory stick, where as some of the others support 4gb.

i mostly use my ds now as a PDA now that i have DS organsize on it, browse the web, and chat on Beup msn client <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile-fix.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile-fix.gif" />
