Heya, The slowness of the forums I can't comment on.

however, on the top right of the page you are looking at is a drop down menu labeled options.

click that -> click "Switch to: Standard"

    enjoy <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin-fix.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":D" border="0" alt="biggrin-fix.gif" />

or you can use linear+ if you prefer it.

Actually even with as rare as I've been online I've noticed a drop in population. I realize I've missed a lot in not being online in so long, but I remember this place used to have 2-3 lines of users logged on at most times down at the bottem of the main page, and now it's barely 1 line of people logged in.

Meh they aren't gone though, I bet that most either can't find their way on here or are into something else in their lives at the moment. So I don't worry.

If I recall correctly the numbers started dropping once WoW was released.

    Maybe NS2 will be the WoWkiller we've all been waiting for, instead of the random >insert generic mmorpg grindfest< <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/tounge.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":p" border="0" alt="tounge.gif" />

Pay to play is the only thing that seems to bring in the gaming audience at the moment. Or is it MMORPG I forget?

Myself too, I am guilty of this. I don't see many games which aren't MMORPG all that worth while playing, especially as most people don't build up their standing and relationships in the game; thus causing them to be arseholes in a bubble of anonymity.

My two cents is that MMORPGs simply consume time very effectively. I know people who spend almost 50% of their day's time on average playing WoW and thus as no surprise the time deficit catches up with them in the terms of job issues, relationship issues, financial issues, etc.

If your theory is right Thaldarin then that is very sad for this game and many other good games. I guess the optimistic side is that we can now see who the REAL fans are who have long term loyalty to this community.
