<div class="IPBDescription">Helio Ocean FTW</div>Just got a new Helio Ocean in the mail yesterday and signed up for their unlimited data plan. I've gotta say. After using voice only service for the last decade, it's kind of awe inspiring to have interweb access at the push of button anywhere I go. (If you hadn't guessed, this whole post was made from the phone)

Yeah, I've always wanted a pocket internet, but without all that phone crap or, you know, having to pay for it.

I have a data plan on my Motorola U6 (PEBL) and it is oddly convenient to be able to check on server status pages and mitten enthusiast message boards from wherever. And for double the fun, magephone combines with magetop to provide tubernets EVERYWHERE!

Yea, I have a Samsung i607 (AKA Blackjack).

It's a Windows Mobile smartphone, and with 3G service from AT&T, I love it. Hell, even youtube has a mobile version, it's awesome.

I use it to check these forums, and for IRC via WMIrc. It's nice.

Searching Google for potato internet returned ca. 713.000 results. Apparently tubernets are indeed everywhere.

I feel like I'm in the minority, but I have no interest in mobile internet or blackberries or even text messaging. at work, I have a computer with internet access. at home, I have a computer with internet access. If I'm somewhere besides work or home, I probably don't really want to sit around punching keys on a tiny keypad with my giant monster fingers. I can call someone or leave a voicemail.

I got my first cellphone a little over a year ago now when I was working for RS.

The employee plan included 5MB of data, unlimited text messages, 3000 mins, and some other random crap.

I find that I use the data and texts more then the actual talk time (and the cell is my only phone).

Texts are nice for when I can't actually have a phone conversation, or am on the run (about to enter the subway and want to let my GF know I am OMW). I use it to check my gmail, and google also has some nifty toys for text messages.

I've got 3G Internet on my LG Viewty. It's got 1gb bandwidth I won't really use much of but it become damn handy when you're out and want to go to the cinema etc. Best yet you can hook it up to a pc and use the internet with that if you want.

Don't worry, you aren't alone. I have no desire to use those features on a phone either. I was kind of surprised to hear that my younger sister was going over her text messaging plan of 1500 per month, so my dad had to switch her phone to unlimited.

I don't have any need to be online on the go either. It'd be useful sometimes, but meh, it doesn't make life better really.

Oh, I can also tether my phone to my laptop and access the net anywhere, at broadband speed. I use it at work to get around abusing company bandwidth.

I also use it on the bus.

And untethered, the mobile web is becoming cooler and cooler every day. Particularly youtube. It's so nice, especially since I'm out quite a bit.

It's really about opening up your options. For example, right this second I'm stuck on a bus on it's way up to the mountains for some snowboarding and I forgot to bring a book. With the ocean, I can read John Dies at the End <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin-fix.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":D" border="0" alt="biggrin-fix.gif" />

    I've had an "internet in my pocket" in some form or another from 2005 <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin-fix.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":D" border="0" alt="biggrin-fix.gif" />

Currently I have a Nokia E90, which is win. It's so useful to be able to check things on the fly <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin-fix.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":D" border="0" alt="biggrin-fix.gif" />

Going to assume the E90 is a step up from the <a href="http://www.thebestpageintheuniverse.net/c.cgi?u=iphone" target="_blank">E70</a>

Nokia makes some damn interesting devices.

Just because the bank can't contact you doesn't mean you don't still owe them interest on the loans.
