installing ns prob

When i go to install, it says it cannot find a valid steam install. I have tried re-installing steam, with no effect. I got around that and got it to run from half life. But then half life says run time error or something. I don't know what to do

USe your imagination to define, where the STEAM installs the Half-Life 1.

If u find it, Go, and install NS inside.

Easy.
