I'm looking for an ancient greek or roman myth. im not sure if it is actually a myth, but it seems really familiar like one ive heard.
basically the story is that a guy goes down to the underworld and talks to the the president of hell or whatever it is, and for some reason to do whatever he needs to do he needs to make the lord of the dead cry.
I know that this is used in the game Kings Quest 6, but there seems to be a lot of references to ancient myths in those games so im wondering if that was actually created in that game or if its an actual myth.
anyone have any help?

Orpheus made the gods cry, and they suggested going to hades to fetch his love back. His task from hades is that he must lead her out with out looking back at her.
Pro Tip:
When a god tells you to do something? Do it! If they want to screw you over they can do it any way, so don't doubt them.
