NS2 and Starcraft 2

Since Natural Selection was partly based off Starcraft, and with the recent surfacing of a new zerg SC2 video; I must ask if SC2 will have any influence of content in NS2. I know it seems like a dumb question, but I had to throw it out there when I saw the new video.

    No, but the orcs from WarCraft will have a huge impact.

    I never played NS, so forgive me for asking, but where are the influences from SC? It looks more based on the Ridley Scott movie Alien.

    ns is a own universe

    there was never any influences from other games
    maybe some starcraft things

    but NS2 will create his own world
    aliens and zerg are familiar
    but ns2 have still things that make it uniqe

    If you look at zerg there are striking resemblances. It was also stated by the the designers that Starcraft was one of their influences
    ex: skulk > zergling, fade > hydralisk, onos > ultralisk, lerk > scourge

    They only look similar if you haven't looked at the concept art for the SC zerg units. If you're going by the pixel-y blob on the screen then maybe but that tiny unit could look like any alien.

    You're saying this:
    <a href="http://qtan.homestead.com/files/hydralisk.jpg" target="_blank">Hydra image</a>
    looks like this?
    <a href="http://www.unknownworlds.com/images/ns/concept/fade-concept.jpg" target="_blank">Fade image</a>
    and this
    <a href="http://img54.imageshack.us/img54/2131/zergling6hd.jpg" target="_blank">Crackling image</a>
    looks like this?
    <a href="http://www.unknownworlds.com/images/ns/concept/skulk-concept1.jpg%5b" target="_blank">Skulk image</a>

    The stances are similar and the claws on the fade somewhat, but that's about it.

    even if you don't think it looks similar it was still noted by the developers as insperation

    I think the inspiration the developers took from SC was deeper than the alien models. In that respect, SC2 content might have an effect if it adds something new that every RTS developer will want to include in their game. I'm hoping SC2 won't come out before NS2 although it's definitely possible.

    Version 1.0 of NS drew a LOT of inspiration from Starcraft. The models were only vaguely similar (understandable given the low-res pixellation of Starcraft models), but the roles of the aliens and their ability sets were highly reminiscent of Starcraft.
    Zergling = Skulk
    Drone = Gorge
    Mutalisk = Lerk
    Hydralisk = Fade
    Ultralisk = Onos
    Also borrowed: Queen Parasite, Queen Web, Defiler Darkswarm (umbra)

    However, NS has since evolved to have its own character and the aliens no longer mirror SC units nearly as closely. I consider it unlikely that the devs would want to reverse this trend and go back to cloning SC2 for NS2.
    And hey, you know how SC2 has jetpack marines now? You can say SC2 is copying NS!

    yea i have found in youtube a prebeta video

    it used the starcraft sounds! (welding from the scv etc.)

    Starcraft sounds came from a standard buyable sound library - the same one that ns used.

    I was gonna say this, but since someone's already said it I'll just say, I completely agree.

    If NS2 is out before SC2 do it then there will be no time to clone anything from it <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/tounge.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":p" border="0" alt="tounge.gif" />
