Commanders for both sides

<div class="IPBDescription">Promoting your player</div>I was reading about how to balance veterans players vs noobs.

I dont have a solution but an idea that can ease the problem.

Have commanders be able to promote people.
Now im not sure how exactly this would work logistically but the idea is that if you listen and follow orders you get promoted.

yes it could be exploited by friends and im not sure how to implement it.

but the benefits include letting new people stick close to better people and pick up what they do. they can also ask higher ranking people for help. and gives them a reason to try and play as a team to get promoted.

it would play out something like this.
After every game, the commander gets a list of people and certain stats(buildings built, kills, waypoints followed).
he can pick a said about of people and give them exp points. once they reach a certain exp they reach a new level. the levels dont give anything but show a persons skill.

I think if i was commander and i had a list i would look for the names of people who listened and followed orders and put them above the rambos that just rack up kills.

i dunno, its seems like a ok/good idea. and will help the commander in giving out orders. why would i tell a noob to do something big when i can trust that task to a more skilled player.

feel free to add/destroy to this idea.

I dont think it could work because how the game is played and servers work out, but an idea worth discussing.

I think it could work, especially if people were only allowed to "rate" or "give xp" once. It would suffer the same problem all mass moderated systems currently do, where a determined smaller group of people could go around rating everyone up or down, but no system is perfect.

failure, =/ simple failure, it will be abused too much

instead of player controlled, how bout game controled,
u talked about a list, how about a the game goes through it, tallying who got to the waypoints, and how fast compared to the distance given. this way, no1 can abuse the powers of Comm by '<i>demoting</i>' and '<i>premoting</i>' people. Having player recs will can be made server side, but for entire game wide, that rec system should be implemented

Local: when you say a one-off, do you mean, player A can only give player B exp once, but still be able to give it to player C? or player A will only be able to give any player(s) exp once, ever.

Yeah well, you can't abuse that then.

Still, what I'm unconvinced about is whether it's necessary, or even warranted especially.

I think it's an interesting solution to the matchmaking problem because it doesn't involve the devs as much. It's also kind of scary in that respect.
