NS Ambient sounds

<div class="IPBDescription">Hive and "pipe/sewer/mechanical"-sounds</div>I'm an old NS player who has recently picked up the game again, and Im enjoying playing this gem more than ever, but theres one thing I cant stand, and thats music and useless sounds in an FPS!

This is why I always turn mp3 volume down to 0 when I play any fps, and in HL/source mods I always turn cl_music "XXX" to 0 and bind "stopsound" to a key.
But I still have extremely high ambient sounds, usually around hives (the general hive sound), and around water/sewers, and this weird mechanical sound (like a hugh factory machine almost breaking appart or something, hard to explain). This sound is not even affected by the main game volume, and the only way I can turn it down is to turn down my MAIN (windows) volume down, which as you guys can imagine, is not an option as sound is so viable in this game.

This is the only game I have this, or any sound-related problem, in.

Im currently using:
Steelseries 5H Headset (with inbuilt mic)
Onboard soundcard from my mainboard (MSI K9NSLI)
And REALTEK Audio drivers

if that should make a difference.
All tips and possible fixses are welcome, I just want this cleared so I can enjoy the game again.

This is the answer to your sound problems. It gets rid of most of the ambient sounds, it also passes consistency for servers that enforce it (like competitive servers).
