Off game topic slightly but....A book

This might sound slightly odd but something that does catch a large section of gamers is a good read.
Take blizzard for instance, they might not always come out with new material for there games but theres books that have continued the stories over the years so when they do come back to making a game they can take off from the books advances in the story. Such as Planets, buildings, weapons etc....

I think from the small reads NS had way back when would make for a great book and catch many peoples attention to the games new development and future release + possibly a story line to the game......Lord knows a good story line will keep any gamer coming back for more.

Could I suggest Richard A. Knaak as a writer?

Well in any case this is an idea simply outside of the game. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/marine.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="::marine::" border="0" alt="marine.gif" />

As bornig as Halo 1, Halo 1.5, and Halo 1.6 were [some of you may know them as Halo 1,2, and 3], the books were pretty damn good. It does seem as though NS has alot of material to go off of, while other games seem to have nothing more then some concept ideas and a one page "blurb." You would need a good writer to do it justice though....

Eric Nylund did the Halo books. I've read both The Fall of Reach and First Strike, which were phenomenal. Though unlike you, I absolutely loved both Halo 1 and Halo 3. Halo 2 messed up the formula a tad, but they got it all back, and more, in 3.

Apparently 'Ghosts of Onyx' is out now, another halo book, and i'll be buying it shortly. His site says its the fourth book in the halo series, but I cant seem to find this third book.

He would absolutely be great for this purpose, if you could get or afford him. He can really capture the fun of the games, in a beautifully written story.

You need a writer that does not mince words a la Tolkien (sixty pages describing the hills are nice, perhaps....) A writer with the kind of pace that Patrick Rothfuss has. Since he basically cuts out all the unnecessary BS and tells his stories from a character's perspective (ie. only what a character might notice), his writing has a very fluid, and action-packed feel to it; even at those times when the action is lacking. The important part is to have a very in-depth and well thought-out universe, but to tell the reader only as much as is necessary for the story to make sense - you need a writer that can resist that temptation (though in this case, dealing with a universe not of his own making, should be easier).
(Sorry, haven't read many sci-fi books, so really only have fantasy books to go by)

I agree a writer who can really capture the Natural Selection universe would be hard to find & at the same time really draw in the audience.

Hell I would write a book for Natural Selection given the option too!
