Screen/Game Issues

I have a copy of Half Life I purchased from Steam yesterday. After that was installed I installed NS. Half Life and NS ONLY run in Software video mode. If I try to run in OpenGL or D3D my screen looks like the attached picture. I am running Windows XP and I have an NVidia 6800 Ultra card. All of my other Steam games run fine but these two just will not work. If I run NS in Software mode I cannot stay on a server. I can connect but then the server kicks me saying Software mode is not allowed.

    Make sure you dont have "High Performance" set in the quick menu on the NVIDIA tool bar (Rightclick on the toolbar icon > Performance & Quality Settings > Image Settings). Im not sure what the direc cause of this is but setting anything abbove "High Performance" should fix it.
