The new pyro compression blast sounds wicked fun... I really wonder if the pyro will be able to use it for locomotion! <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/tounge.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":p" border="0" alt="tounge.gif" />
I like the idea of the flare gun too, though it makes the pyro even more of a support class. (which isn't an altogether bad thing...)
I'm not sure I like the new flamethrower, but that's because I always use pyro to push the enemy team back, I don't try to hide and hit them from behind...
edit:
I'm tempted to just farm some of those medic achievements now... I'll wait a while and see what I can get of pyro without farming.
I agree though, the taunt one is just never going to happen without a farm... Probably would have been a better achievement if it was just hurt someone with your taunt, or if they upped the effectiveness of the taunt so you actually could kill people with it.

In order to kill someone while taunting, wouldn't you just have to light them on fire normally and then taunt while they burn to death? I think you're making this too hard for yourselves.

It does ONE point of damage. ONE. Anyone with one hitpoint left will NOT be standing around waiting for you to taunt them to death, they'll be running for health. And even if they did, they'd catch a stray bullet and keel over long before you could taunt them to death.

Though I meant realistic as in the achievement being a realistic one to achieve without staging it.
Valve pretty cleary does not want anyone unlocking all the weapons without making a concerted effort with at least one other person to farm at least one achievment, which annoys the heck out of me. I know I've probably said this a million times but TF2 is not when you spend half your time grinding and half your time arranging esoteric situations. I really want the ubersaw for the medic, and <i>all</i> the pyro unlockables look great, but the sad truth is that I don't know if I'll ever get to the second unlockable for medic, and I'm 99% sure I won't get the awesome axe for the pyro. I wish they'd just unchain the new weapons from the achievments; every class they update makes me feel that much more gimped when I play without the unlocks.

Agreed.
Heck, we could easily compromise:
Currently you get the upgrades at 12/36 24/36 and 36/36
For every week that passes, you will need one achievement less. So 3 weeks after the medic update you would need: 9/36 21/36 and 33/36. So after 36 weeks everyone would have the ubersaw for free. This makes the game also more friendly for new players.
Another alternative would be to reduce the number of requirements needed, depending on the time played as that class. 3 hours for 1 achievement reduction sound fine to me. So after 30 hours as medic you would need 2/36 14/36 and 26/36.

I like Fask's ideas.
That being said, I am starting to think I might just farm a few of the medic unlocks at this point, and I KNOW I am going to farm some of the pyro ones.
I really want the first 2 pyro unlocks, and sorta want the critsaw.

My 0.02$<!--QuoteEnd--></div><!--QuoteEEnd--> You should totally email Valve with that idea. They always respond to emails (mine at least) and I think it's pretty good <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin-fix.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":D" border="0" alt="biggrin-fix.gif" />
If you need to farm then find this map "achievement_nomnomnom_v2.bsp" (only seen one server with it) it has bots which stand in a row/on cp and act as nemesises, lots of achivements to get quickly there. Remove any filters and look for it. However, it bans people for 10-15min if your ping is too high , so if you get high ping just reconnect every minute to fool it, you still get the job done. This will also most likely screw up your scores, you can get 280k heal in 5 minutes or so and same goes for damage/kills. Not that anyone believes your highest score per round anyway nowadays.

Seems like this wont be so bad after all, most people will actually get all of the new weapons in a reasonable timespan. I got the ubersaw today and most still havn't gotten it.
Tell me about it. I've played quite a lot of medic since the game came out, yet because I don't ###### achievements all I've got unlocked is the first weapon, while people who just joined an achievement server are running around with an übersaw yet have no clue how to heal properly. It's sad.

pyro love!
The upgrade to the thrower makes me happy.
The unlockables are all rather awesome.
The Flare Launcher sounds like it might be a tweaked napalm rocket, which would be awesome.
And if we can CA jump I will be happy.
All in all, looks great, and I doubt I will be playing pyro any time soon ;(
