Many times, but to answer your question: Probably not. If you consider the NS environment, tight corridors/vents, connecting small-medium size rooms, any real vehicle would be limited to some extent.

Although It appears as though some kind of light rail/tram system is in the works, and that fits the environment quite well.

    Could heavy armor exoskeleton or propulsion packs count? <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink-fix.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="wink-fix.gif" />

You know, it would be kind of funny if there were civilian vehicles in a map, I mean like those golf cart looking things you see in the halls of some places or a container lift or whatever else moves civilian TSA member supplies from the loading bay to the various storage areas to disseminate out to the local general store or whatever.

Pretty sure if a marine tried riding in one they would look like a mobile snack machine to a Kharaa though <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin-fix.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":D" border="0" alt="biggrin-fix.gif" />

Unless NS2 goes outdoors a vehicle just wouldn't fit. How would you balance it against the aliens anyway?

they are doing trains on some of the maps - (check out the concept art) not sure if that counts as a vehicle though.

most maps you would only be able to use first and reverse gears in free roaming vehicles though lol

although it would be really fun to zip around dirt bikes and golf carts in a space station. but then again thats what jetpacks are for <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile-fix.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile-fix.gif" />

edit: i guess we'll have to wait for GRAND THEFT ALIEN before we see any massive vehicle based action <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin-fix.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":D" border="0" alt="biggrin-fix.gif" />

Trains and such are quite cool if the engine can handle them. The revision of the classic OH SHI-- scene of bast door. I doubt vehicles would suit the original gameplay anyway.

    In Canada, we like pie. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin-fix.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":D" border="0" alt="biggrin-fix.gif" />

Still, the only kind of vehicle I want to see in NS2 would be something that fits the enviroment. Heck, in the world of nanites and phase gates that TSA use, unless a place was poor-ish, I am pretty sure they would use teleportation or just build stuff onsite with nanites.

There's something, maybe an idea for some maps would be that Marines need to clear infestation (if there is any spread to the area), restore power, re-establish the hardware connections of a place, and bingo, infrastructure re-usable to whatever the civies were doing before the show down.

Heck, I still want to actually see civies/scientists/local militia-security in the maps, as both the Marines and Kharaa.

hmm, i remember reading in one of the many background stories about NS that teleporting is SERIOUSLY bad for a persons long-term health (Note the nuclear energy symbol on the phase gate's step). So perhaps cranes and stuff still have their uses...

what about using small robot drones as a form of vehicles that players can control or have as support. some may have different uses. some could have weapons attachments for defence. others with mini welders or lasers that could be useful for repairs,

    They see me roll on
    My Segway
I know in my heart they think I’m white and nerdy
Think I’m just too white and nerdy
Think I’m just too white and nerdy
Can’t you see I’m white and nerdy
Look at me, I’m white and nerdy
