A Quest for Glory 2 remake! And you can import old heroes. And it's VGA, and...... and................ and.......

Just in case ther are some people who have no idea what the hell Quest for Glory 2 is (apart from GLORIOUS, *NUDGE NUDGE* *WINK WINK*) Then... well, it's a oldschool adventure game/RPG. Now, the reason this is the game in the series that was remade is that it's the only one in the series that was never remade by Sierra themself (or just made 'properly' to begin with), it only sported text commands and simple CGA graphics.

...But anyway, the series was awesome, and it's well worth trying out. Actually, I'd suggest you try and find the first game and play through that. Then import your hero from the first game to this remake.

I've been watching this since they released their remake of Kings Quest 2 (circa 2002). Quest for Glory was my favorite Sierra series and the little I've played so far of the remake is top-notch.

Started a new character as fighter, ordered some tea at start, talked about every topic, none seemed to have much important (or varied between persons) to say, walked out and talked to everyone in the market area. Realized I couldn't buy anything less I knew what it was myself and that my current money needed to be traded to local currency, despite the fact of apparently saving everyone in the prev game and making friends with the wealthiest person on the southern hemisphere. Goofed around with the backpack and various settings (run, sneak, inventory etc). Got a bit bored and tried to find some quick action (or humor) out in the desert after receiving warnings how awefully dangerous it was and I was a fool to even venture to the city gates alone without 50 gallons of water and a rpg. Headed out west (left?) and encountered a griffin sleeping and a rock with feathers underneath it, which were "firmly burrowed into the sand" and I could not dig it out with my sword or just pluck them (they were clearly visible), nor was it possible to anger the griffin, "You don't want to do that" "Leave some room, hero". So I continued my epic quest of some quick action/humor and went on an on west/left which apparently took ages even when running because every scene you left with sand, rocks, mountains to the north and cacti lead to another empty desert with everything rearranged randomly, despite the fact that I knew I'd probably thirst to death as my water container kept decreasing in weight. After 30-ish mirrored desert areas I decided to try and head back (thank god he moves automatically at the direction you put him) just to encounter a lone bandit playing chicken race with my character, probably after my precious flowers I got earlier. Soon after clashing together the bandit and I move to "battle positions" or similar named. Finally I'll get to "smash conflicts head-on" as the character sheet promised fighter classes. I quickly figured out how to move up and down and block left or right, but where in ######ing hell is the attack button?! The bandit, obviously a low level combat npc, was whooping my ass! I clicked the most obvious keys first, mouse buttons, space, ctrl, alt, shift, enter, wasd, zxcv, tab. Then randomly pushed everything in rows right to left, my character was dying after all. Then when I had about 20% hp left I hit ESC and my character backflips to the bottom just to sheath his sword and shield with the message "You show your true skills of bravery" or some such and promptly return to the desert. First I was relieved and thought I could head back but the ominous music was still rolling on and I realize the bandit is coming from the end of the screen towards my character again! I try to dodge him to avoid contact (he was blocking my path back to the city) but get dragged to combat again. I play the magic card again and start running the other direction for additional 8 areas until the bandit gives up the chase. Now, being further in the desert then I was before I take my chances of finding something useful even further west so I continue. ... Is that some kind of purple velociraptor? Didn't I see friendly types of them in the city stables before venturing out to this stupid desert? I remember my character saying something like "These weren't so nice in Petersburg..." but I assumed they had all been domesticated by these superior sandfolks...cats. Nevertheless I ran back where I came from, the vicious look and threatening gallop towards me and 16 years of common game knowledge got the better of me. At first I obviously thought the damn thing would outrun me in notime but Jilligan (I just remembered his name) kept up the pace and soon I was alone again, heading east. However, Jilligans problems were far from over as the game kindly notifies me 50 squares out in the desert that I should find water soon, or Jilligan would die, I can only assume. But being worse then final fantasys random encounters, the friggin bandit was lurking exactly where I had left him, god damn florist extremist. Once I again I tried to elaborately dodge him by first running up, then down and forward but to no avail. It stood clear, I had to somehow beat him to get back to cattown which inhabitants actually didn't speak like modern "can i haz cheezburger" cats to my amazement. Heaven or hell here I go. Okay, here he comes, now let's try finding that attack key! I go totally mozart on my keyboard and even manage find a menu which seem to function as a automatic combat assistant. I drag all sliders to maximal "offence" and "swing" and held my breath as the enemy approached. Soon my character made a barrelroll from what I assume was a critical hit caused by the bandit. I still had some health left, there got to be a way to trick my way around this increasingly powerful end boss. I charged towards and hit block keys left and right as fast as I could, fingers blurring in front of my eyes, hoping to get a lucky combo of some sort. With a deftly blow, avoiding my bullet time flurry of blockings, my opponent sends Jilligan to his knees and moments later flat on the ground, finally spared of further embarrassment.

    an amusing wall o'text <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile-fix.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile-fix.gif" />

I can't remember whether I ever beat QFG2... I know I beat 1 at least a couple times, and 4, and 3... I believe I did do all 4 in a row, importing from one to the next, but it's been so long... never did try 5 - my computer couldn't handle it when it came out -_- and it got mixed reviews.

anyway, back on topic, QFG2 remake, that's cool and all but I would have to replay 1 in order to get a saved game worthy of importing into 2 first and I'm too lazy to do that =p but 2 is definitely the one that needed a remake most. they already remade 1 into point-and-click, and 3 and 4 were always that way, so 2 was the logical gap...

    Just a word of advise:

QFG2 has a time frame and certain events only happen at a certain moment. So to get a perfect score you need to have perfect timing <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/tounge.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":p" border="0" alt="tounge.gif" />
