Dual Monitor Support

<div class="IPBDescription">mmm, Please?</div>More and more people are using dual monitors, and if its not too much work, some support would be awesome. I'd even say that support for just an enlarged minimap would suffice. It would be great for regular players; instead of constantly pulling up the map, you could easily glance to the side and lose the disorientation of having to find yourself. With it on the side, you'd probably be able to track your location (the white view triangle emanating from your player), whereas pulling up your map can often enough lead to a small search for it, even if you know the map 100%.

And imagine commanding.

Once again Supreme Commander has spoiled me forever when it comes to awesome RTS interfacing.

They allowed the second screen to be the minimap/larger overview. =] With it's own strategic zooming ability.

I wouldn't say dual monitors are the prevailing way people build computers, at least amongst my peers, but it is quite popular and giving support (i.e. don't mess up the rendering display system) and potentially a nice edge would be pretty cool.

I recall several games that don't know what to do when they see two monitors, and bork out. Please please at the very least don't do that.

I <3 a minimap or other such display to take advantage of a potential second monitor.

You would also need to consider if adding dual monitor support gives an unfair advantage to those that have two monitors over those with one.

Exactly. Don't give it an overwhelming advantage, just a nice perk.

Besides, It'd drive me crazy to play with dual monitors. They say three monitors are the way to go for gamers, as you get the l337 peripheral vision.
