Little Rocket Man

Just finished HL2: Ep2 for the 3rd time, decided this round I'd take the garden gnome into space.

Carried him all the way through, put him in the rocket and saw him blast off into space.

I did not realise, however, that you had to manually shut the hatch door. I waited til the rocket fired off, finished the game and checked my steamID.

I did not get the achievement unlocked.

Cool

If you don't close the hatch, somebody will see it standing open before the launch, and go over to close it. Obviously, they'll see the lawn gnome in there and chuck him out.

But fret not, the solution is simple: Go back to a save before you stuffed him in there, and this time do it properly.

Oh! Oh! You could be cool and edgy like us and not care about achievements!

Oh yeah. So cool and edgy.

In my dreams, I dream of being able to do something equally whimsical, and get a reaction, even if it is not scripted.

You exit your car on railroad tracks, just before going through a door and triggering a cut scene? The dialog is interrupted with the sound of the 12:31 to texas, a 160 ton train, obliterate your car in a violent crash.

    That, and potato salad.

If you got the gnome all the way through, why does it matter if Steam knows? You still achieved the same thing whether or not your account says it. Unless you're such a habitual liar that your friends are never going to believe you did it, and you absolutely need the proof, you're still in the same position you would have been in if you'd have closed the hatch.

    Tru dat.

I bought a copy of Mass Effect. Haven't played more than 10 minutes of it in 3 months.

    Do I care? Hell naw.

I paid extra to get into an early pre-release screening of The Dark Knight and all I did was sit backwards with ear plugs in, just because I'm so cool and edgy.

Like custom titles, everyone has them, so we're all cool now.

None ever felt privileged getting one from the start anyhow, all that un-cool begging and bootlicking.

    See, that is the problem.

The new cool and edgy for that is obviously the people that DIDN'T set a new title for them selves.

/me looks shiftily around making sure people understand he IS cool AND edgy

Like me! I didn't change my title.

I didn't say that I didn't care about achievements, I was asking why HE cared about achievements. For all you know I'm completely uncool and unedgy and spend all my time farming achievements in Audiosurf and Mass Effect and TF2.

Don't worry sweetheart. You'll always be uncool and unedgy to me. You don't HAVE to farm achievements just for my sake. It's okay.

Ooookay, well, yeah, it had achievements. They're in the menu. Mass Effect, like KOTOR, is the sort of game I'd never even consider playing less than twice, but that's a different issue. In any case you unlock achievements all throughout the game. They're the same as the 360 ones probably.

    It's possible to have a build that can't defeat the last boss? <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/confused-fix.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="???" border="0" alt="confused-fix.gif" />
