Mic problem

This is really pissing me off...

Everytime I use my microphone in any half-life mod EXCEPT half-life itself, I always lag out. After sometime of using it, I get the WARNING: CONNECTION PROBLEM then it proceeds to disconnect me.

I have absolutely NO idea how to fix this...and I'm open to ANY suggestions. Please to god help me...

why do you think it is the Mic?

If it doesn't happen very quickly upon first using the mic, it isn't the mic.

So:
System specs?
Internet connection?
Wired vs wireless?
Do you actually play HLDM?

Well, it doesn't happen instantly, but it only happens after I've used the mic, or when I'm using the mic.

I have a fairly good internet connection. I'm using a router. My steam connection is set to DSL > 256K

I played HLDM for quite some time to test out my problem, and on every server I went too, every time I used my mic, I would not get that internet connection error.

I'm using Realtek HD Audio for my sound. It came by default with my computer.

And I don't really mean it's the mic that I'm using, it's when I use the mic button in-game.
