error I get in every server I join

I get the msg Software version not supported and my screen remains all black for the most part and i cant see or do anything? Did I download the wrong file or somthing or?

    try changing your video renderer in the video options tab. also try putting cl_gammaramp 0 in the console. if those don't do anything, reinstall.
