Just a few Ideas

I apologize its been years since i posted on this forum so the user name is a little old. I'm sure most of these couldn't be implemented but I would like to help catalyze the creative process.

I'm sure that a good majority of the NS Community has headsets. Whether that is true or not here a few ideas for the voice chat.
- Allow the commander to click on players and enable or disable their voice while he/she is in the comm chair more easily.
- It a stretch but if marines required some tech like a walkie-talkie to communicate over the map that would be interesting. Otherwise voice communication would be determined by proximity. Aliens would hear marine communications all gargled, like "Santa's Little Helper" on the simpsons or something. Aliens could hear other aliens within a range or their chatter could be heard and retransmitted by all gorgs which would allow them to play more of a commanding role. If aliens were in proximity with marines it would be heard as a series of clicks like from "Mimic."

- It's sometimes hard to find a good commander so how about a commander rating that carries with you server to server. It could cover games won and vote ejects.

There was a video game I remember playing at least 10 years ago that had to do with ninjas. Depending on their weapon they could morph into a type of animal or beast. The point I am getting at is what if there was some type of dual gestation.
-Two players gestate together to form a more advanced unit. Skulk+skulk=A. Skulk+lerk=B. I'm not saying that all the creatures should have this ability but it would be a way of promoting teamwork. Of course one of the players would be in charge of movement and the other would be in charge of attack. Similar to a gorge being lerk-lifted. I know that Onos are almost OP as is but is a flying Onos too much to ask for? (Onos + Lerk)

-It sounds kind of stupid but maybe a later game lerk ability that allows them to lerk-lift marines rendering them partially defenseless to their captor. Exception being heavy armor and jetpacks. Adding this and leaving marines susceptible to fall damage would be entirely too funny. I am aware that some servers had this ability.

I remember when bunny-hopping was huge and hive rushes were completed very quickly and über marines used to pwn everything insight. But the game hasn't been the same since marine mobility has been nerfed. Don't misread i am not for exploiting.
-Marines ought to be a little more mobile though IMO. A marine enabling himself to by time with jumping and sidesteps is a good thing IMO. I prefer the old marine movement minus the exploits.

-Perhaps a new tower or alien ability, perhaps from the gorge, that disrupts commanders vision from a particular part of the map. It doesn't render the commander useless. It just scrambles the commanders view over a particular region making him unable to see marine units clearly or make precise drops. If the commander is watching his troops enter an unsecured area he may not be able to med-pack spam troops accurately if an alien tower is disrupting his communications with the ground level.

Finally I had a couple ideas for new alien forms. Again I don't think any of these ideas have a chance but i just want to know what you all think of them.

I was thinking a fast moving spider-like life form similar to the skulk that have a large egg sack on. Less susceptible to gunfire than early units. I figure that it can use an almost "Daredevil"-like way of seeing. Seeing sounds sound waves. So if marines aren't moving around making sounds they are invisible. I can be a transport unit. It can store and transport friendly units, minus the fade and onos, in sack almost like the Onos with its digestion. It also heals the friendly unit while it transports it making it a field medic/transport unit. The ability to lay eggs that hatch baby spider-like creatures to attack marines in close proximity to the eggs would be cool. Like an alien land mine.

The Second unit was something that hops around(just to be different). I was thinking something with a flower like thing on its back. I was thinking an ability to charge its metallic like petals to emit a light that blinds marines like a flashbang which would obviously require a good cool-down. The ability to project a bud which attaches to a marine and has to be either shot at or easily welded off would be an idea. If left untreated it would consume 50% of the health of the marine and fall off to spawn a different AI controlled melee creature.

Again these are just suggestions and the statements made are just opinions.

Thanks for the comment. I guess i signed up for this forum well over 5 years ago.

There's a lot of talk about drones or mobile sentry turrets whatever you want to call it. I understand there's always going to be turret farming and its essential to win most games especially when it comes to hive lock-downs. But there is a certain helplessness that is found in matches where you have a 2 hive lock-down and 1-2 sieges at a turret factory. How about granting gorges the ability to slime up turrets or stunning them for a second or two. This could be done with their spit attack. But only for enough time to allow the gorge to slime 1 turret constantly at a time. Valuable for getting those hard to reach areas found usually inhabited by turret factories.

-New death animations. I don't care what game it is but it sure makes fraggin your opponent a whole lot more fun if they explode or scream or something.
In Free fall situations or untimely explosions where marines scream out. If they are caught on fire something similar. Gorges exploding after death.

-Larger than life hives would be great. Maybe something you will only see in co maps. I would like to see be able to fight inside a massive hive as it contracts and dims light. Where marines are forced to eventually enter the alien hive and shoot at its core. I wish there was a way to build hives without being at hive locations and limit its placement by the space it needs. Having 3 hives in 1 area may seem unfair at first but well placed siege cannons and ample sentry turrets quickly remind you that its not. Smaller hives that do not allow you to build different chambers but allow you to spawn in new areas would be interesting.

-Selectable spawn points. After dying you should be provided a top view of the map so that you have an idea of how the game is going and what positions your teammates are in. Some games require you to press keys or mouse buttons to spawn but how about allowing you to select which hive or infantry portal to spawn from. If you don't choose within the time it takes you to spawn you will select a randomly selected location. Only in the case of an infantry portal if it already has a marine queued there than you can see it as red on the mini map.

-More interactable rooms. Something out of a Doom 3 multiplayer would be cool. Opening bay doors and releasing units into space is always fun but how about something like turning on gas chambers or firing up the incinerators. Something out of "Star Wars" where you can travel through a garbage compactor.

-Flamethrowers are badass but how about Shock packs. I haven't read all of the topics and this may have been touched apon. Turret factories use electricity why not marines. Well besides the fact that they're made up of about 90% water.

CO isnt in NS2, unless you volenteer to script lua for it.

New Death Animations couldnt hurt as a later patch, gameplay first

dont like the turret stun thing at all, bring a Fade with you then.

select spawn is already going in some, aliens can now choose what egg of X eggs in the hiveroom to spawn from, the marine's IP thing, sounds alot like Empires Spawn Ideals

Shock packs? I think leaving to to buildings is nice, or to Xmenu.

    I have May 2003 beat!

Question about the skulk + skulk = something. Basically you are saying Player + Player = ? Is your idea some creature controlled by two people? If not who gets to be the new creature? Having two people control one thing is tough unless you are talking Jeep with turret or something, but that is hardly an alien.
