More like valve sucks.
Valve consists of a room full of monkeys smashing their faces in the keyboard and releasing whatever the end product is. They don't need to be praised for what they broke in the first place. There was nothing wrong with the HL1 engine as it was and it didn't need "fixing" by their part in the first place.
They need to learn to leave working things alone instead of going out on a whim and being idiots and messing everything up.
