<div class="IPBDescription">Some ideas</div>As NS has always been a competitive game where clans play a major role I suggest we take it one step further and include clans into the game like some other games do already.

In NS1 you were identified by the tag next to your name that you had to put in. Why don't we make it a little more obvious in NS2? Savage2 for example has clan-support in their website, you can manage your roster, invite, post news, see the clanstats - challenge someone - and so on.

They also have these neat icons left of your name, so basically nobody uses clantags, you got the normal name and some icon stating that you're a member of that clan.

It's quite easy to recognize players that way, you get the whole corporate image of the clan via one simple icon on the scoreboard.

Another thing which I already wanted for NS1 was some visual feedback on which player has set READY in tournamentmode. Maybe just some checkers where every player can indicate his green light saying yo let's do this. Once everyone's done that games start just as before.

Setting up tournament modes would be kinda handy. Sorta like how DotA has certain game modes aimed at competitive play. Saves us the hassle of building them ourselves. Though they should be pretty easy to code up.

Typically that's built using a very specific plugin and not part of the original base code. At least, every time I've played there's a special enhancement to the tournament system. The ENSL has its own special plugin.

This has been done very nicely in Tribes2 IMHO. Too bad they killed the master server and are not releasing it's code so the (still active!) community can set up one by themselves <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/sad-fix.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":(" border="0" alt="sad-fix.gif" />

Since you cannot access these features anymore let me explain how it worked:
You had a "Tribe"-Section in your ingame-browser where you could either search/join an existing clan or create a new one. When creating a new Clan/Tribe you could chosse a Name, a tag, tag-position (before or after the player's name), a description and status (e.g. recruiting, free for all, closed...)

I'd really like to see such a feature in NS2 to promote organised play. I think the information should be pretty much the same as they were in Tribes2 - maybe add a field for location/country (wich could be "france", "austria" or on a larger scale "europe", "australia", ...) and maybe an Image that will show up on the Clan's infosite in the browser.
If an API was provided, clan's could use statistics, player lists and so on on their homepage and maybe there'll be some use for it on the UWE website, too (like keeping stats of how many active players/clans NS2 has)

Dips on the [.at] tag for Team Austria (free for all - show the world you're proude to be Austrian <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin-fix.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":D" border="0" alt="biggrin-fix.gif" />)
