It's one of those streaming genre radio things, but with community attached to it. So it keeps track of what kinds of music you listen to and tells you what other users are "close" to your tastes, then you can listen to what they do, and become all the more versed in genre and culture. You know?

Genre is a way to be unique. It's really simple, see. You just write music that could easily fit into any one of several existing categories of music, claim that something is subtly different, and give it a new name. Bam! You're now a deep thinking culturalist.

I used to rock both Pandora and LaunchCast, but I haven't really touched either in a couple of years. Sadly, all these things are blocked at work, and if I'm on my computer at home, I'm generally doing something other than listening to music.
However, I did put a lot of work into my stations, so if you like trip-hop / trance and various kinds of indie rock, feel free to investigate. I generally hate angry music, so there is no metal or hard rock here. Mostly very chill stuff.

But major big ups for morphine
How to work Pandora:
1. Choose a song or a band you like. 2. If it plays a song you really like, thumbs up. If it plays one you really don't like, thumbs down. Otherwise just sit there and listen. 3. Repeat steps 1, 2 for any other stations you want to create.

I like last fm, but the problem I have with it at the moment is that I've used it since I was a teenager, my musical tastes have changed, and I listen to less music now. Is there any way to get it to discount older listens without wiping the data entirely? http://www.last.fm/user/moultano

But Kelly Jones could take them both down at once.
But slightly more on topic, I'm going to betray my ignorance and admit that I have no idea what lastfm is.
