<div class="IPBDescription">Brainstorm some good map dynamics you'd like</div>After reading all these good little threads at the top, which in most, my answers were, "...map dynamic..." so...I thought I'd make a thread about map dynamics. This is kinda a sub-thought of the 'Map damage' thread.
One common one is the 'Break Window and Get Sucked into Space' dynamic.
I made the thread to keep an ordered list of YALL'S ideas of map dynamics, Examples... Gas Pipes, Sewer Pipes, Electric Panels, Lights, Windows, and the broad one, weld points.
Just give and toss some ideas around and I'll make alittle list here below. The ideas can be anything, anything that can help make the games of NS2 not replays, a sad fact of NS was the maps were hard to make dynamic, to change. I hope to see NS2 maps alot more.......alive. Having the mapper easily inplement them by a preset code, attached to a object with health would be nice, like the pipe; you can use the same pipe model, but different texture and code, this one erupts into flames, this one spews water.
One idea I had that is for IMPLEMENTING the dynamics is to give the mapper the ability to stick animations together, making one whole animated dynamic. He can stick together maybe, examples, flame animation, with a spark, light animation, and, hmm, water drip animations in all directions. What dynamic did I just make when a marine/alien shoots that pipe? She shoots it, it blows up, causing the water sprinkler system to activate, TA DA.
So don't forget some good dynamic implemention methods with the dynamic ideas.

1.) shouttle running around a few maps on a circiut or something like that
2.) i like to see movement on the maps so why not some machines that are still turned on cuz people left it quick (maybe an assamby line or something
3.) pipes of course that can crush from the ceiling
4.) magnetic looked doors in case of fire or somthing else (could unlock after 1 min or something)
5.) little working drones ? that drive trough parts of the map doing thier job cuz they dont fear an onos (could be destroyable)
6.) burning oil/gas leaks after hitting something
7.) elevators that maybe could be hijacked and "droped" (a couple marines falls 5 floors to death and a skulk chewing the iron rope)
8.) eletric cables got cut and fall into water, water now is deadly for everybody
9.) stuff that blows up and causes explosion. why kill the enemy if the map can do for you ^^
10.) a lot more foggy smokey steamy stuff cuz it makes a great atmosphere in the game (imagine of movies they allways use it to get atmosphere)

No crates except in the cargo hold
Pipes are in the floor and walls Vents are in the celling
Pipes with doors that only open from one side
Pipes that can fill with water...
Movable environment would mostly help marines as they can take cover behind it or block aliens when fleeing. One does already get stuck enough on ceilings and invisible corners.
Marcus, they can't "take" music from somewhere, copyrights etc.
True, repeditive weld/unweld points would be the greatest, like the water pipe? The aliens can use bite under water, but marines are forced to knife, making them want to keep that pipe welded shut before it fills the room full of water.
