Built-in Bots

I tried to search to see if any had already had posted the idea but it gave me "L4D" and "Connection Problems"
So I think that if you guys have the time you should throw in some built in bots on both side the Marines and the Aliens, for those extra lonely days when no one is on or you've just raged out of a game and wanna feel better or something. You know for some self satisfactory times.

Bots are a must for NS2, whether they be for the marine side or alien side.
In Quake Wars: Enemy Territory, you can play in a bot only "server" which is really on your own computer. Both sides are made up of bots, except for you, of course.
It is signifigantly funner than it sounds. And is great for internetless people (or ones with laggy connections). Plus, it gets rid of the tutorial question.
Now, don't be biased. Bots can be extremely thoughtful and good and have perfect aim and crappy pathing. =]
But seriously, the complexity of NS and the dynamic maps don't lend well to bots. If you can make bots that work, kudos, but it's not high on my priority list. In fact, I don't really like them all that much, except maybe as placeholders for the AFK thread.
If you want, you can check out WhichBots for how far NS1 bots got in terms of ability.
You've obviously never played against tweaked RCBots as marines. <img src="http://www.nsmod.org/forums/style_emoticons/default/rolleyes.gif" border="0" class="linked-image" />
oh gawd. RCBots have so much potential, but I never got the hang of programming their finicky little minds. Do you have a bootstrap AI I could start with instead of the brain dead versions you get to start with? I could never train them past rush the enemy when you see them. They never even placed chambers properly. =[
My sentiments exactly.
I'm still looking for good NS1 bots. Also, AI is a fun interest of mine, so I was wondering where I could get some awesome RCBot brains to mess with. I heard they're tangled neural nets built through genetic algorithms. As I mentioned before, my attempts at teaching them have ended in failure due to the time required.
If someone makes a decent bot which does everything it should and very little of what it shouldn't for natural selection before the release of natural selection 2, maybe they could integrate it with little or no time loss to do so. Otherwise, it's a big no, as much as I'd like to have bots.
Never had much luck with RCBots as aliens, I was referring to marines. <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile-fix.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile-fix.gif" />
But then that's no fun. All they need is pathfinding and good aim. =[ Although I guess it's good ambush practice.
