Hmm, that might actually work, good call.

Would need max's input on the idea, for feasibility.

Probably need to input a flag or separate entity for active comm chair, and an update every time a PG built/dropped for which one is closest to comm chair.

Big problem if NS2 allows multi-level maps and distance is only measured using (x,y). PG 3 floors up but right above the comm chair is the 'base' PG? lol.

EDIT: other problem. What if 'base' PG has been destroyed? Rare case, but if it goes down the 'base' PG will be located who knows where. Still closest in distance to comm chair, but that might be through walls.

I saw in the Twitter some pathfinding stuff was being added, so maybe use distance of walking path. Better to jump to the closest PG to base then being stuck in the Hive.

No way this could be problematic due to relocation or multiple CCs or anything.

Hm.... actually, if it's the closest to the currently active (i.e. commander is in) it might work. Then again, in a reloc, if the comm is still in MS this could be a problem.

What you think about if : when the commander use the F.P.S. on a phase gate he need to select a second one. with that, all marines can only phase in those 2 locations.

maybe, i prefer simple idea but, that can fix every "entity anchors" & relocation problems & ...

    Gnight every one !!!

Maybe it shouldn't go back at all. Every phase leads to <strike>Rome</strike> the beacon'd gate.

The PG system has no idea which pg is the 'base pg'.

Couldn't there just be a feature where the comm flags a PG as the base PG?

    Okay i just want to clean the main idea of this topic <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink-fix.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="wink-fix.gif" />

We try to find a solution for setting a priority for phase gate. finally we got this alternative.

Force Phase System or F.P.S. : the comm select a PG and research the F.P.S. on it (PG - A).

When the commander use the F.P.S. on a phase gate he need to select a second one (PG - B) (its gonna be the exit). with that, all marines can only phase in those 2 locations.

Cost ressources (10 or 20) and every phase for (10 or 20 sec.) are redirected to the F.P.S. (PG - A) and if you phase again on the F.P.S. you go back to the second one (PG - B).

The F.P.S. can help for a good rush, but you can't phase nowhere else than the F.P.S and the exit.

So the comm dont need setup every single priority and that can be balanced with ressources cost, duration & cooldown.

    That's awfully... self-serving.
I don't know who the 'we' are, but you're sure as hell not speaking for me.

I dont think the priority setting should cost research time or res. It's already a big investment in res, risk of a grinder and loss of outside progression for a commander to beacon to rush his rines through a pg. An additonal 10 res and I doubt any comm would ever use it.

IMO it should simply be a flag that can be used as much or as little as the comm wants. It already has its own drawbacks, such as not being able to PG out (or to other pgs, depending on which way you see it) during the priority time.

I still vote for the Map Selection I put up some posts ago.

Theres a plugin for ns that allows players to choose where to teleport.

For ns2 phase gates i would recommend a minimap popping up and marines would choose a phase gate to teleport to.

    My thought exactly

Pretty sure you havnt read that there arent gonna be phase gates in NS2.

How about if you use a Phase gate via E there is a little pop up on the HUD with "Pictures" of the location where you want ot go and you can select them by pressing your Weapon Slots aka the numbers from 1 to 9 ? And by the way we do not need this discussion any more, because Phase Gates are being replaced by some mysterious and awesome something.

I think Raven_XI is referring to the mention in the twitter feed that phase gates are likely to not be in NS2. It's not a guarantee though,
