crashes upon opening

bah!

i've had NS for a while and it would do this every once in a while and now its just not opening at all.
i go to start it from steam and it will open, the background image will display but then it goes not responding..

i've reinstalled it, installed it to a different folder, deleted both of those files and reinstalled it again, restarted steam a few times times, tried letting it sit there to see if it was just loading really slowly, restarted my computer and tried opening it before most any other programs were running..
so far nothing i've tried has done anything, every time i open it it just goes not responding and i ctrl-alt-del to close it.

ok update, i opened it through xfire and it worked ^_^

if i have to keep opening it that way i will, but i'd like to resolve the problem if i could.

it kinda sounds like you are losing focus on it when it is loading (as if you were alt tabbing, but it is some 3rd party software doing it). That tends to lead to NS failing and errors that sound like what you describe.

Kill all non essential programs (including anti malware and xfire) and try that.
