I'm currently stuck using a mobile broadband connection which prevents me connecting to Steam (I think it's down to port blocking).
Is there any chance of an alternative download / authentication method ? (i've got a feeling I won't be able to play until about xmas otherwise <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/sad-fix.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":(" border="0" alt="sad-fix.gif" /> )

It would be nice if NS2 didn't use Steamworks (lol) for its protection/DRM/authentification, and used something more user friendly instead.
I won't buy it if it requires Steam, and since a custom engine etc is being used, I don't see why Steam should have to be a requirement, so hopefully they might offer the game through Steam, but also offer it in other ways which don't require Steam (e.g. more like EA/Ubisoft games and not like Valve games/DoW 2 etc).
