Sierra/Dynamix released Tribes 2 for free a few years back, but the release was a fileplanet exclusive and the key distribution was a kerfuffle. These lovely chaps have put up their own master server, as well as a list of mirrors for downloading the game itself.

I'm currently downloading it and I'll report back after I've got it up and running. I'm not sure which version of T2 is distributed, I'm not looking forward to tracking down the patches for it.

I think at current there are 3 versions of Tribes 2 floating around. Theres the fileplanet one, the next one you posted and another one. I seem to remember only 1 of them having players on their servers. Was playing around with it at work and had some fun games with a few folk.

Oh and you dont need to patch it, but you may want pj's scripts to improve the UI.

So I downloaded the game, installed their 2 meg patch and pretty soon I was jetting around shocklancing heavies. The graphics didn't age terribly well, but holy hell this game is fun.

Might seem a bit like a bone question but how do the servers look many people still about?

The Aussie servers that I checked were pretty barren. I joined a Japanese server and played a 10v10 with about 50/50 bots/humans. Hardly a representative sample, though.
