NS crashing from the start upon ATI Catalyst 9.3 upgrade

<div class="IPBDescription">I had ATI 8.4 before with no problems.</div>In removing my new video card that I had just bought 2 days ago (dam defective card), I was putting back my old ATI 9600xt. I was using ATI display driver 8.4 because at 8.5 and higher, it was crashing my video settings in Windows XP. But when I wanted to put back the ATI driver after putting in back my old video card, I thought I could give it a try with the latest drivers which 9.3 . Well after installing it I was surprised I had no problems at all. But when I started up my NS, it crashes right away with a popup saying it could not read a memory (The instruction at "0x5ed2aed8" referenced memory at "0x00000564". The memory could not be "read". Click OK to terminate th program.).
Anyone have this problem with Display drivers 9.3 on an AGP ATI card ?
I will probably go back to 8.4 in any case but if it can be fixed then I'll stay with 9.3
