Benchmark and Performance Tool

built in?
Just wondering if there might be any kind of benchmarking or performance measuring / reporting tool built into the game?

Like a fly through of a level, with and without action? then it spits out the average, max and min FPS along with system setup so that it can be posted on some forums easily - or maybe it can even upload them automatically to a database.

Then users can see what kind of performance to expect from their rigs or similar ones.

I second this. It will not only give performance feedback to UWE, it will help players help other players.

Good idea. This seems like something that's on a lot of people's minds.

I'm sure we could build one in Lua with a custom map filled with particles, models and stuff like that. Maybe even output a graph like far cry 2.

Yeah, I'm holding off on buying a new computer until we see how the MAXXXXXXXX™ engine runs on different hardware. With the nifty occlusion culling and who knows what other unique features, it may behave differently for Nvidia vs ATI, multicores, and all that.

Well the database part of what you say I'd would think is mostly accomplished by the Steam Hardware Survey. And by the looks of that page I'm probably going to needing an upgrade to my video card to stay ahead of the curve!

Anyway, as a development team creating a product intended towards Steam as the target audience I'd say that's one useful little resource.

There are tools you can use from guru3d.com to test your graphical performance. The game ships with minimum specifications for use too. This would just slow development down.
