Announced at this year's E3 was the next console Castlevania. Being co-developed by Kojima Productions (Metal Gear series) and MercurySteam. Which has me a bit worried, since MercurySteam's only other projects have been <i>American McGee's Scrapland</i> and <i>Clive Barker's Jericho</i>... lets hope Kojima can whip them into shape for this title... pun intended. The gameplay also looks to be borrowing a lot from God of War.
It's set for release in 2010 for PS3 and 360

Not sure about that trailer. It was brilliant and lovely until the action started happening. Looks very Gears of War, which I never managed to warm to. I really liked Symphony of the Night's setting and atmosphere - would've been brilliant to see a gorgeous gloomy castle rendered in full on HD swank-o-vision, rather than (admittedly pretty) outdoor environments.
Having said that, there was a 3D Castlevania before on the PS2 that was set in a castle, wasn't there? Was that any good?
<i>"Your words are as empty as your soul! Mankind ill-needs a saviour such as you!"</i>
Though I'll miss the gothic architecture of Castlevania itself.
<i>"I'm interested in this."</i>

Neither of which were bad, and it might easily be argued that Shadow of the Colossus was actually quite <i>good</i>
Indeed.
The game looks rather shiny and awesome.
Only problem?
It really doesn't look like it is going to be a Castlevania game. Nothing wrong with that per say. But, I want more castlevania tbh.
