Chambers/towers should make sounds

The sound wouldn't be overbearing or even happen every time the event occurred, but would add to the idea that the towers are alive.

- Just like the hive, alien towers should make some kind of 'pain' sound when hit. Perhaps even have different pain sounds for different types of damage.
- When other aliens make sounds (like primal scream, and maybe even chuckle), the nearby towers would respond with a similar, but more chamberish, sound.
- If a tower is healing (or otherwise affecting) nearby aliens, it would occasionally make a sound.

This should not affect gameplay very much. So, effort would have to be made to not give away tower position in certain circumstances, such as when the tower is cloaked, or the alien getting healed has silence.

    This sounds like a really cool idea.
    I can see a marine with HMG shooting at a fade that killed his buddy, but now blinked around the corner. The marine charges in after the fade for vengence and the room is covered in dynamic infestation. Obviously there is a sensory chamber somewhere nearby because he doesn't see any alien buildings or lifeforms. The marine hears the slightest sound of the fade being healed by a defence chamber, and to his horror realises the fade is right behind him...

    Yes, but less so than the hive. A small, noticeable sound "proving" that it's a living organism. All for it.

    This is nice

    Might hurt gameplay but might also be worth some playtesting.

    Don't they already make sounds in NS1? I'm sure they could just transfer them over...

    They make a kind of blorp sound and OCs make a sound when they shoot at you, but they don't really have the depth of sounds that the OP suggests they should have.

    And interesting concept, and I'd approve of this addition.

    Give hurt chambers their own "heal me" sound for when a gorge passes by , activated for the lowest hp chamber in a cluster (only once in a while and if the gorge isn't actively healspraying) possibly with the heal icon as well.
