<div class="IPBDescription">Wondering when they're coming</div>Was just wondering about the alpha/beta. This game is slotted for a fall release, but the alpha is not done (out?) yet.

Was wondering if the game is still on track?

I think a delay is pretty much inevitable. I would expect the alpha/beta by the end of the year, but the truth is, no one really knows when they'll be released. I'm sure they'll let us know as soon as they have a date though.

I expect a alpha quite soon. Bu tthe alpha will be mainly a mapper tool. Which means, map editor + basic test "game" (probably no waepons, commandermode where probably 1-2 things can be built to get a feeling for the maps as a com). Then people will find the problems with the basic engine with different hardware configs. Then 2 months later probably a beta. my guess.

They already released pre-alpha to some mappers. I think the full release will end up being October 2010.

The game may be ready for alpha, but needs maps and mapping good maps takes time too.

As for playing the alpha i guess later august and on.

Here are my thoughts. As soon as the game is playable (fundamental features are there, but no polish or balance done yet), Alpha is going to release. Alpha is going to be about stopping game crashes and tuning the engine, in addition to some light balance being done. Once the game stops having seizures, Beta begins where balancing is more important than fixing kinks in the engine. I can imagine Beta being the biggest crunch time, where there is going to be a new patch every week in a speedy attempt to have the game to be not completely one-sided on release. I imagine both phases will take roughly a month each and alpha will start mid august. This will result in an early November release for the game, which is the fall release they are aiming for.

Not just making maps for us to play on, they even need to have the tools, editor etc ready for alpha/beta testing.

But from judging from onos clip, it looks really close.
