Preload next map

Since NS2 will now have its own engine, is there any reason why the readyroom portion of the next map cannot preload? This way, the players would almost immediately be placed into the next map's readyroom, rather than having to stare at a static screen while waiting for the entire map to load. This would allow players to choose a team, vote on game options, chat with friends, etc. while the rest of the map is loading.
P.S. A simpler variation of this idea would preload the entire next map before sending players to it. Of course, this would require more memory but would cause the map to be loaded "instantly", at least from the perception of the players.
