cant turn off loud music

ive used all the commands but the loud ambient music wont turn off..my volume is at 0.01 and its still loud enough to hurt my ears
when im around the hive i hear more ambient sounds and when i start ns there is always the loud music

i've tried cl_musicenabled 0, binding stopsound, and ambient_level 0

    you cant turn off the ambient sound effects, and the menu music isnt affected by the console command. You can try replacing the menu music with something quieter in the NS files?

    There is a sound replacement file that apparently is "suitable" for competitive gaming... was in an earlier thread in this section.

    found it
    i used the music command and put it in my userconfig on read only to stop the main title music

    and i looked through the forums and found this:

    which stops the ambience noise around the hives
