So what is this FMOD that I seen on the twitter update on the page and I also saw it on facebook? I looked in it a bit, something with sounds. Still looking.
The FMOD Ex sound system is a revolutionary new audio engine for game developers, multimedia developers, sound designers, musicians and audio engineers. Based on the years of experience from Firelight Technologies' previous products, FMOD Ex aims to push the capabilities of audio for games, whilst at the same time using minimal resources and remaining fully scalable.
FMOD Ex is available in two branches. The stable branch only includes bug fixes and supports .fev forward compatilibility. The development branch includes all bug fixes, new feature additions and supports all Designer functionality. The development branch matures every three months to become the new stable branch. Well When I found that I was still confuse. Though you were very close to it, but that was the wrong one you found. It Fmod DESIGNER, not Fmod EX
<!--quoteo--><div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'><!--quotec-->FMOD Designer provides access to FMOD Ex's advanced low-level features to sound designers, without the need for programming knowledge. This comprehensive sound design tool allows simple or complex sound events to be modeled and created by the sound designer. The capabilities would include such things as layering, effects, random behaviour, and stitching of sounds. The aim of this tool is to give control of the artistic direction of the audio to the sound designer - and not the programmer.
The sound designer may specify the in game audio within Designer and simply supply the programmer with assets and an event list to implement.<!--QuoteEnd--></div><!--QuoteEEnd--> <a href="http://www.fmod.org/index.php/products/designer" target="_blank">http://www.fmod.org/index.php/products/designer</a>
So were gonna hear some new weird alien sounds(of course) and maybe the armory might speak and ask for a hug!
I actually just logged in right now to start a topic asking about FMOD, glad I'm not the only one that's wondering about this. I supposed that there must be plenty of people around here that understand what FMOD is and what it means to have it implemented.
So can anyone dumb it down a bit for me? As far as I can gather it's seem like a tool that makes it easier for would-be NS2 modders to work in the sound into the game. Also I supposed it's the tool that UWE is using to manage sounds and music in vanilla NS2. Easy and powerful to use?
Please correct me if I'm wrong and elaborate on what I missed. And please in your own words.
