    I think the steam chatroom is a better idea at least for now, just because it would be so freaking easy for us to join each others games and play from there.

    Ah well there is you issue. Steam chat has nothing to do with the official IRC channel :P You are more than welcome to use it but the main channel will still be on gamesurge as it has been for years.

    The official GameSurge channel has been around for a very long time and is already well established. It has an existing structure of support and moderation, as well as an existing user base that averages at around 100 people per day. On top of that, due to the fact that it's been there for years, there will be people who used to visit the channel who are likely to come back as NS2 becomes more high profile (this has already started happening).

    By all means hang out in the Steam chat-room, but the main official NS chat-room is always going to be #naturalselection on GameSurge.

    Once you have connected you are automatically joined to some random room, HOWEVER! Click on the X on this Chat tab

    then in the box at the bottom type

    /join #naturalselection

    And you should see everyone.
