Mapping tool suggestion

A quick search of the forums had only one mention of this that I could see, but I don't know how much work it would be to incorporate a filter to import data from...

Google Sketchup

It would be useful if you could rough-out a layout map quickly, then add textures and any other requirements like hive locations etc. within the official tools.

Pretty sure there supporting this as their standard file format is Collada, making it compatible with a lot of 3d applications.

When they want to call it the "the most moddable" Game ever, they have to. Would make things for some people easier.

    Edit:

Just saw that on the Collada Site: "Google SketchUp is a product that supports COLLADA.

Exporting to Collada DAE files is officially supported in the Pro version. There is a possible workaround from the free version. The workaround is exporting to Google Earth (*.kmz) and then renaming the .kmz to .zip. When you unzip the file the "model" folder contains a DAE file of your model."

Sketchup's a pretty decent tool for quickly prototyping stuff in 3D.

It really does feel like sketching in 3d, sometimes can be a breath of fresh air after spending hours in something like 3ds

I would like to see a feature where if you have multiple brushes sharing a common point that you could group the brushes to the point. The benefit here is that when the point is moved _all_ of the grouped brushes are modified at the same time versus moving each one individually. Also, taking this one step further if there are two shared common points between brushes, one could select and modify the entire segment versus moving both points on each brush individually.

This behavior would be similar to the HL2 displacement feature except for individual brushes and not just one face of a brush.

You could always use 3dvia shape (www.3dvia.com) which is free and supports Collada export....
