regarding the network/chestplate light: if we are out of the powered section of the grid, we lose power to our suit? such as flickery/no flashlight or flickery/no hud? i think that would add a really neat and interesting gameplay aspect, and also give more reason to expand instead of hold up somewhere.
No armor on the neck? I know that's where I'd go for if I were a skulk... Not sure if titanium is a good choice of material either since it's a low density material. You should just claim it is some futuristic synthetic fiber :P Really impressive quality.
It would be really cool if this time around, Natural selection II allowed you to decide which gender and face profile model to use.
Like for instance if I could set my profile to "female, african facial model", "male, nordic facial model" or "female, hispanic facial model" etc the list goes on.
Commend all artists involve because those marines look badass and incredibly real. Honestly thought they were more concept pictures before I had a look at the large version.
The engine renders are looking lovely.. The technical side that is. The lightning model is really top-notch. However, the model itself.. What's up with the bare ass? And what really bugs me are those TSA scribbles on the armor and helmet. Looks like the rebellious marine cut them there himself to damage TSA's PR by looking stupid. Otherwise, good job, the armor looks functional and mostly though-out :)
I admit, I had to go back and look at the in-game renders again. They all looked like concept art at first glance until I saw your post... Can't wait to get in-game myself.
oh wow, ive not expected such a radical design change, but it looks awesome. chest light and hud failure in infested areas might give marines quite a tactical advantage (this would to have be crosschecked with the game balance) if they got to ninja alien teretory, because they arent that visible if they try to keep low profile, but also it would have its disadvantages. then again why would they need that chestlight in areas they have power and light anyways? maybe link that chest light to the flashlight and just make the hud go bonkers... at least make the networked hud parts like commander orders, map flicker with very short times of being online again if there is a connection that slips through the infested areas for a second from a remote access point so you wont be entirely navigationles. the status readings are kept up by the armor itself, but those are like 2 small readings on the hud, effectively dimming down the overall brightness of the appereance of the hud. but if the chest light is nano grid powered, wouldnt the hud be aswell? aarrhh.... anyways, i totaly love the new marine armor.
i have to agree with the "no clone soldiers please" but randomisation is bad aswell, i really would like to chose from a couple of face textures, maybe even armor customisations instead of getting forced to play with a randomly generated character. maybe in later versions, because right now the game has to work first :p adding cosmetic features is secondary

actually having a closer look i take that back. It looks a bit simple but is still good. It seems very bland compared to the NS1 LMG but that's just me.

Not sure how those looks like scribbles to you but I'm fairly sure that it's factory designed into the suits.
As for the LMG, I'm happy with it. Reminds me of the pulse rifle from Aliens, just bulkier. Which, if I'm not mistaken, is what they're going for.
EDIT: I was thinking (As others have mentioned) that when a marine is in a power grid that's offline, his Holo-HUD/suit will shutdown. You could have a message play, something like "Power failure, communications offline". Make it so all commander assets are unavailable (Motion tracking, Commander comm, Waypoints... Basically anything that the HUD would show the marine) while the marine stays in the area of the power failure. As the marine get's closer, the suit slowly starts to power back up (Maybe show a signal bar, when he's gets within a certain distance of the power source), sort of going through a diagnostic. Could also have garbled commander messages/sounds play as the suit comes back online to simulate communications coming back online.
Just my suggestions mixed with those of others, feel free to add on.
Looking good! Can't wait to see what that mysterious news post has in store for us...

Seriously? Those are in-game?
I honestly can't believe it. They look too good.
The new look is awesome, and puts to rest all my fears for wonky looking marines (I never liked the look of NS1 marines... I replaced them with the Space Marine custom models).
Those look absolutely amazing. Love the update style too, hehe.
(Also I'm a fan of the colour changing hud - even in third person - I mean if I'm rushing in as a skulk I'm probably not going to be rushing from the front just for extra tactical data... and if the combat remains in the same spirit as NS things will be so frantic most of the time that to take advantage of the extra information would take real skill)

Battery would maintain communications and waypoints, but not motion tracking and hud would be like 50% powered.
Also for the color changing HUD as marines are low health: Marines should see color changing, but aliens shouldn't. This is becouse aliens can't understand colors in the same way as humans. Alien characters can't simply understand what red flickering hud would mean, but players would. So remove aliens to see color changing hud.
(I'm in a hurry and I don't have good English skills, hopefully someone understands what I'm saying.)

I concur vis a vis the "TSA" logo on the helmet and shoulderpad. It doesn't look very military-logo-ish. It looks like it was drawn on by a toddler with a crayon, especially on the shoulderpad:
The only other critisizm I can think of is that the helmet looks a bit heavy and weighted towards the back. Spinning your head quickly becomes more difficult the heavier your helmet becomes, additionally they look like they'd obscure a lot of peripheral vision. I agree with tycho that it looks a bit gladiator-esque.

the new skulk is particularly doglike... ;)
Really impressive quality.
Halo ODST is not even on the same level as NS2.

probably just your log-in software is being detected as a virus, but you may want to check it out. (completely serious)

I could tell right off the bat the image was from the game engine, and it looks great.. I can't want to shape it.

gotta say enjoyed the TSA style write up, definitely spices up the media release!
The lettering looks really bulky and unfinished. If it was factory-made, you'd think someone had put more effort into the design (like in the actual TSA logo.)
I'm gonna hazard a guess that the lights on chest/back change color to signify what squad you're in, but that's pure speculation.
I wonder if they have anti-spore noseplugs now.
