The NS2 Story

UWE need a story to tell the "not-currently-involved" to make NS2 sound awesome. I don´t think i would buy a game with the description: A RTS/FPS game. You can kill aliens!
They need something epic but still not a rip off...... Maybe its a new planet that they are trying to build a colony on. And the aliens are the new planets wildlife! Or a alien alliance called the covernant that is trying to wipe out the humans! Or the aliens are undead under the lich kings control! Or maybe the aliens are from the nazi/ku kulx/communism/ninja/shoop da whoop/mingebag clan of evil!
Lets just try to figure out a story and hope that it will be in the game (and that i get all the credit for it)

There's the Six Days in Sanjii story that revolved around the NS1 universe. I'm sure something similar will be done for NS2. And I'd definately dig if UWE made a game cinematic intro using their cinematic editor and posted it on Game media sites to get more attention/advertise their game. But right now, it's all about being patient and letting the Devs work on the game. You can probably bet Charlie would be excited about continuing the story of the Natural Selection universe. :)
Bad luck. You're almost seven years to late for that.
The story is still 'Human paramilitary organisation TSA fighting back bacterial infestations on different, apparently unconnected installations and vessels accross human space'.
edit: meh. it's half past eleven and i start to mix up words.
But you did buy a game with the description: A 4-player coop FPS. You can kill Zombies! right? Well maybe you didn't but NS2 is a MP-only game. Like Css, TF2, UT and quake it doesn't really need a story. But i agree somewhat... There should be at least a written piece of a story somewhere and maybe some cinematics (like in L4D)
I went along and saw the "behind the scenes" on that trailer when I was reading up on the game itself, and there's quite a lot of effort that makes sense to appeal the gamers on what it's all about just by looking at that video.
Stuff like introducing that the Hunter pounces, the Tank throws rocks at you, that shooting a car will alert the zombies and that crouching when in front of another player is better. That's only a few of the things that we can learn from that video, and I think maybe a imaginative pack of Kharaa and Marines heading out (with personality or it wouldn't be interesting) then using different tricks and tactics that are relevant to the game would help a lot.
It would not be storydriven, and it wouldn't affect the game at whole, but it would certainly help create that atmosphere and at the same be helpful to players.
Of course, developers should focus on giving us goddamn alpha (yay) so we get to play with all the cool toys, but for release I think it should certainly be considered.
Nice topic btw.
As was the old website that had the haunting background music. To this day, the only music-enabled website that I haven't instantly muted.
