NS1 was a mod for the half-life engine wich is HIGHLY outdated. Counter-strike once was a mod, available for free.. then it became 1.6 with a retail price and was still a great succes for many years, then came CSS wich for many ( including me ) was a huge disappointment cus of the gameplay ######ups but still many people did like it. So basicly the game got rebuild 2 times and sold 2 times while nothing realy changed. This doesn't mean that it aint worth the money? Cus even tho the story line didn't change much, the core of the game sure did.

NS1 was and still is one of the greatest mods ever made, it's only logical to rebuild it to a standalone.. and instead of using and existing engine they build one themselfs. I would say that's deffinately worth the pre-order. And yes you can play NS1 if you don't want to pay for NS2.. but you make it sound like NS2 is the same game with a few graphic enhancements, don't forget it's a stand-alone game now and not a modification on a outdated engine.

It's not a big studio, they don't have a huge ammount of money, and they don't have a big team.. nothing wrong with making a game out of a mod and selling it. You could complain about this if it was about studios like EA, Infinity Ward, Valve ( L4D2, that's a piss since it wasn't a mod and they are selling the game twice basicly ).
