<div class="IPBDescription">mood setters</div>It would be interesting if the game client automatically played music at key points in the game. This would happen no more often than once a minute per player, and only when a "strategic event" occurred. The music would last 5-15 seconds; just enough to set the mood. Depending on the event, the music could be local -- so only those in the area would hear it. The music would be different per event, with multiple songs even for the same event (to reduce repetition). Different music might be played for each team, for the same event.
Possible "strategic events":
- When an alien hive drops below 75% health
- When over half the players on a team have been killed in a certain area
- When a hive has completed building (perhaps only heard by aliens)
- When a critical resource point has been taken, or taken back
- When a primary marine structure (like the armory) is destroyed (perhaps only heard by marines)
P.S. The default volume of the music would be significantly less than that of the regular game sounds. It could be turned down more if desired.

i even try to get rid of to loud ambient sounds!
I'm indifferent to dynamic music. Usually don't notice that it's not there, and doesn't really impress me when it is. But if they can do it easily, sure, more polish is always cool.
I'd rather not, instead let mappers put a sound track to their map
maybe a radio that can be turned off if its obnoxious
like the jutebox in shawn of the dead lol

lol.
I'm not sure I'd want it to be mandatory though. Having a single-song soundtrack playing through the level sort of runs in my UT-fan's veins.

Not the Onos' primal behind me, not the Grenades in front of me.
Be horrible if you're going along the corridor and suddenly you get music for the hive being below 75% and as a result you don't hear the gestation sounds of a nearby alien structure or the noise of a skulk lining up to chomp your arse...
yes.

what?
Because of course, people would be aware that it exists, and of course, people that don't particularly care either way will choose to turn it on.[/sarcasm]
That's just a waste of resources.
Anyone that cares enough to not have it in, will turn it off. Everyone else, enjoy.
