You seem to be forgetting something. Yes, those marines would have a hard time, and the bigger aliens too, but the flyinf aliens, and any that stick to the wall, would be able to just cling t the walls, floors and such, giving them a lot of advantage to sit and wait for a marine to enter, then pounce from the wall or roof or maybe even the floor behind a floating desk or something, giving the smaller aliens the advantage. But I say there should be a way, in that room alone, to turn it on or off, like a switch that both marines and aliens can use to turn it on and off, and only for that one room to have it! not all rooms.
As I stated before, the forces of pull and push would tear the bulkheads apart. the neutralisation should happen half a meter away from them, so you can still walk freely in there, but if you jump you're flying.
