I have a question :
Is there a chance you'll make a non-steam NS with bots ?
because i've seen so many videos in youtube about that mod
and well i DONT have steam, when i put the NS folder in the Half life folder
and switch to NS it only shows the menu picture and turns off the game.

Please help

NS is only supported on the steam version of Half-Life

Also, if you own another copy of Half-Life, you can install Steam and activate it on Steam, and then NS will work with it.

As spellman said, you can use the CD-Key that came with your hard copy of Half-Life to activate it on Steam for free. That's what I did. So you CAN play this game, as long as you don't mind installing Steam on your computer. It's free, so I don't see why you shouldn't.

Sounds like you may have a pirated version of Half-Life/Steam (you can't really get a hold of non-steam version today). To the best of my knowledge, problems with mod support is exactly what you'd expect in that case.

Otherwise, if you have a CD-key, you can activate it on Steam and go on from there. Half-Life itself costs 10$ nowadays.

And depending on who you talk to, $10 for NS is a steal.

I originally bought HL 4 years ago just to play NS with my friends.

$10 for Half-Life is a steal if you ask me. That is, neverminding NS, SVEN, TH and other great stuff that comes with it.

These people are obviously new to the scene, use an older version of NS with a non-steam installed version of half-life. We used to do this for lans, you may then add bots and so on. A few I remember RCbot, Wbot. I prefer the non-steam version although steam has multiplayer. We used to play the non-steam one before "Won" servers went down for the original half-life and screwed everyone up with this steam nonsense. (At first it was extremely buggy and you would be forever updating)

I believe before 3.1 up is steam. 3.0 i'm unsure of and before are non-steam.
