Skill disparity

<div class="IPBDescription">bhopping, aiming, etc</div>I've played NS a while back up to around the Combat modes came out

Since this is supposed to be a new engine, will it still have things like bunny-hopping, the extremely long backwards hop marines do, and static crosshairs?

I know the game is still in dev, and info is limited, but has anyone seen any indication in form of pre-release game vids, podcasts, etc

One of the things that I didn't like back then was the players that severely unbalanced the teams, due to the sky high skill roof for NS, resulting in players that can legitly do 19/0s.

I don't really want to get in a long and pointless argument about skills, being a noob, or whatnot but I basically just want to know what kind of gameplay I can expect if I choose to buy it.

There is essentially zero information of anything, the game is still heads and shoulders in development. The general idea to make the end product both intuitive and skill-based, yet not unbalanced... Good, basically.

There are a couple of videos/screenshots that show off how things look in-game, but pretty much nothing on how it plays. We'll have some indication of that come Alpha/Beta though, which are coming more or less soon. Soon-ish.

Apparently skulk has some kind of bunnyhop like movement system. I take it that the early game leap and general improvement in controls are going to make it far more newbie friendly that it used to be, but the actual implementation is anyone's guess.

A bigger player scene means that those 19-0 guys are most likely playing competetive games instead of public anyway. Right now the lack of active teams means that most players are somewhat forced to play public because there aren't teammates and opponents avaible 24/7.

The very high skill ceiling was the best thing about Natural Selection. Games with low skill ceilings risk becoming boring once everyone knows all the ins and outs of the game. With Natural Selection, you could always improve your abilities with practice and experience.

The community that I used to play Natural Selection in was a small, fairly closed community due to my geographical location. I remember there was one guy who was insanely good at the game - to the point that many people didn't enjoy playing with him. But they were pansies. I thoroughly enjoyed it when he was on the server because it was very satisfying when I managed to read his incredibly fast movements and defeat him.

I hope Natural Selection 2 also has an extremely high skill ceiling.

That's impossible for us to answer as none of us have played it.
