Why didn't they just call the dog Laddie if they were using a male one anyway? It really bothers me.

Because female dogs are.... nicer? "Lassie" is a nice name, anyway. Plus the character Lassie came from a book, and the original writer didn't have to come up with an actual dog to use, so he just made it female.

So, was there like an entire team of people responsible for the purity of the Lassie line? It doesn't seem like something you'd leave to chance.

I didn't know that, actually. What else can you tell me about Lassie?

From my wiki sleuthing time, it appears that the dogs who played lassie are all from a single bloodline, starting with Pal, the first one. It seems that the same family has owned the bloodline since the first one, too. So I guess, yeah.

Also I just found out that there's a manga called "Lassie" and an anime series called "Famous Dog Lassie". Neither involve robots, to my disappointment.

Damn. I was hoping to see Lassie save some school girl from a tentacle demon.

Thank you for keeping it classy. I would have gone a totally different route.

Tentacle demons are one of the leading contributors to atmospheric Co2. Climate change could cause sea levels to rise and therefore Lassie would be saving school girls from homelessness!

Exactly. What did you think I was talking about, Thansal?

My statement was straight forward, I would have gone a much worse path than you chose.

When I was younger, for me the name "Lassie" didn't say anything about the character being a female. In fact, for a while I thought the character was male, since Lassi is a guys name in Finland.

Does your dog have Finnish Spitz in his/her ancestry? The build looks similar.(Her fur is usually longer, she has a very short cut for summer in the picture)

Nope he's a full bread German Shepherd. Sometimes there happens to be one in the litter with longer hair, they aren't allowed on dog shows (stupid rules). But I like them better anyways, they look much more badass and nicer that way...

He also likes to build fences <a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/martin_borgman/3864366797/in/set-72157622167790586/" target="_blank">linkage</a> :D

*Full* bread. None of that half bread that nobody likes. Why do they even bake it? I always see the shelves full of half bread which nobody buys while the full bread is sold out. It's ridiculous.
