Unresponsive Mouse And Keyboard

Help!
I think this is just a general HL problem, because it happens in all my mods, but hopefully you guys are more helpful than the cs board -_-

When I play, my mouse randomly locks up, and it my keyboard becomes somewhat sluggish as well. I came back to HL mods after 3 months off, and everything worked FLAWLESSLY before. What's the problem? I have WinXP, Microsoft Intellipoint mouse with latest drivers. That noforcemparms and noforcemaccel commands stuff didn't work, those aren't even HL commands. I really don't know what else to do, and your great mod is unplayable in this condition. I really want to play! Can someone please help me?

I have the same problem... but not all the time... like 5 minutes ago, I had a permanent lock of kb and mouse, right outside the marine spawn in ns_tanith... and the only way out was the reset button...

Have you tried disabling intellipoint? Also, have you tried changing the mouse features in windows at all?

I've heard lots of stories that its WinXP. The same happened to me when I used my father's computer (with WinXP) instead of my computer (with Win98). I think the solution is shutting off the backround music or shutting off all sounds completly.

I also have winXP, and i ahve a problem with my Keyboard freezing...

My only 'solution' is to bind quit to a mouse key so i can exit HL then shut down via mouse... :/

Really Doom? You never told me that

Let's get together sometime and see if we can figure out what's going on.

I run XP Pro and have zero problems with it.

This is caused by an improper vendor hardware driver - not really anything to do with XP, just happens to be drivers that were used for it by third parties. Usually, it revolves around PC's with onboard sound cards, especially using Via motherboard chipsets. Does this apply to you all?

I have this EXACT same problem, as do many others with XP.

I'm not sure if I have the Via motherboard thing, but once I disabled CD Audio and the other sounds, it worked fine. Sort of. I don't get AS MANY freezes of my keyboard or mouse, but I still get them.
